The British Grammar School
The British Grammar Schools in Kurdistan are the first British Schools Overseas (BSO) in the region and Iraq as a whole. They are part of the accreditation inspection programme of the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI); one of three leading BSO accrediting bodies for the United Kingdom’s Department for Education. ISI’s inspection programme ensures that we uphold the same quality of education, and adhere to the same stringent guidelines, set forth by the British Department for Education. Students at our schools will receive an international education that mirrors the excellence of independent schools in the UK.
- The British Grammar Schools in Kurdistan are the first to achieve BSO recognition.
- Our schools are the only ones that meet the UK DFE’s standard requirements through ISI.
- Our school is the first institution authorised by Oxford University Press, who provide our curriculum, training and examinations: the first Oxford school in the region.
- We will be the first approved examination centre for IGSCEs and A-Levels from Oxford AQA.
- We are the first official football academy in Kurdistan and Iraq approved by Brooke House College Football Club (UK).

School Infrastructure
For the first year of operations, the British Grammar Schools in Kurdistan will be utilising rented buildings, as we develop ambitious plans for state-of-the-art world-class facilities.
Because of the fact that we are opening the first ever British Schools Overseas in Iraq; for each city where we open a new scool we are investing $5 – $10 million in purpose-built 40,000 sqm campuses incorporating renewable energy infrastructure and water recycling, with a range of sports facilities on site, and with architecture that supports our emphasis on healthy environments and student wellbeing.
Our schools will reflect the British values we want to teach at our schools while underpinning the significance of providing access to our students to develop themselves besides their academic excellence. Which means a student of the British Grammar schools will pay attention to their musical progress and physical education as much as they develop their real life skills within the school faciliites. Students can opt to become professional footballers, musicians, artists and progress their skills while studying at the British Grammar Schools in Kurdistan and Iraq.
